Katamari Damacy Reroll
In the year of our lord 2004, Namco took a huge gamble and brought this weird ass game from Japan over to the states. It's about a little alien that can roll crap onto this magic ball. Like just anything sticks to it. You start out in a house, collecting like thumb tacks and grains of rice, and suddenly you're picking up mice and hammers, and then you roll up the cat, and then you're rolling up tables and humans and cars and... you get it. As you collect more shit, your ball gets larger and larger (snowballs, if you will), and eventually you are rolling up trees and buildings, and islands, and godzilla. Back then, I wanted desperately to play this.
But the game is hella Japanese, and wasn't Halo 2, so by some miracle it got localized and they released a very very small run for $20. Needless to say, this shit was impossible to find, but I did manage to snag the last copy at EB games or whatever, and it was a glorious experience. 15 years later they remastered this puppy for the switch in HD and it was a nostalgia trip. Even better now that my wife (who also snagged the last copy at GameStop for Christmas last year) can sit there and explain all the cultural references and Japan-ness to me. The soundtrack is also extremely good. This is one of my favorite games ever, and I'm so glad they remastered it.
